PeopleLabs was founded in 2004 by service designer and innovation strategist Rebecka Sexton. Her work with leading service design and design strategy at organizations like Carilion Clinic, Chicago Hispanic Health Coalition, United HealthCare, Optum, and OSF Healthcare has helped improve the patient and customer experience, leveraged design to drive change, and facilitated human-centered innovation. In addition, Rebecka has worked on offerings for Pepsi, The Gap, Knoll, IKEA, Home Depot, and Lowe's, among others.

PeopleLab’s customer experience consulting and training offerings focus on customer journeys, systems design, design and innovation, and culture.
